WIP: Douglas A 4A (A 4D-1) Skyhawk Airfix 1/72 Parte 1

Olá pessoal! 

Vamos começar mais uma montagem aqui no blog! Desta vez, vou acrescentar mais um Skyhawk na minha coleção de "Scooters". E o kit escolhido é esse da Airfix, desta nova leva de kits com moldes totalmente novos da fabricante inglesa.

Mas, vou tentar dar um toque especial e como tenho como objetivo ter todos as principais versões do pequeno caça da US Navy na minha coleção, vou tentar fazer a conversão da versão "B" que vem no kit para a versão "A". Afinal, essa versão não tem opção de kit no mercado atual.

Let's start another build here in the blog! This time, I'll add one more Skyhawk for my "Scooters" collection. And the kit chosen is the new Airfix, from that new set of kits with totally new molds from the english manufacturer.

I will add a special touch to this build and cause my target is have all major versions of the little american navy fighter in my collection I will try a conversion from the "B" version that comes with the kit to the "A" version, since there is no kit option in the market.

A foto acima demonstra as principais diferenças entre a versão inicial do Skyhawk e a sua segunda versão. As mais aparentes, e são aquelas que vou me concentrar mais, são o leme liso, os tanques de 150 galões e a falta da sonda de reabastecimento. Na verdade o blog é escrito por Tommy Thomason, que escreveu diversos livros sobre a aviação e entre eles um sobre o Skyhawk. The photo above demonstrates the main differences between the initial version of Skyhawk and its second version. The most apparent ones, and they are the ones that I will focus more on, are the flat rudder, the 150 gallon tanks and the lack of the refueling probe. Mas então não existe nenhum kit da versão A (ou como foi originalmente designado A4D-1) hoje em dia? Na verdade, a própria Airfix tinha um kit desta versão (foto acima), mas com um molde muito antigo e com muitos erros.

But is not there any version A kit (or what was originally called A4D-1) these days? In fact, Airfix itself had a kit of this version (pictured above), but with a very old mold with many errors.

Mas, como também não achei decais "aftermarket" para a versão que quero montar, resolvi usar os decais deste kit antigo, que estão razoavelmente certos de acordo com as pesquisas que fiz. Desta forma vou usar uma parte dos decais do kit novo com as marcações do kit antigo.

As instruções dos decais antigos originais que vem com o kit da Arfix estão erradas, pois faltam algumas marcações utilizadas nos aviões do esquadrão VA 34 nos anos 1950. Veja abaixo algumas fotos que sugerem essas diferenças.

The instructions of the old original decals that come with the Arfix kit are wrong, as there are missing some markings used on the planes of the VA 34 squadron in the 1950s. Here are some photos that suggest these differences.

Infelizmente não consegui fotos do mesmo avião que vou montar, somente esse perfil colorido abaixo, que nem sempre são confiáveis.

Bem, vou continuar procurando fotos e mais informações sobre o VA 34 enquanto vou montando o kit. E como sempre, vamos iniciar com a montagem do interior da aeronave, principalmente o cockpit, que trás um bom nivel de detalhes (com decais para os painéis de instrumentos) nesses kits novos da Airfix.

Well, I'll keep looking for pictures and more information about the VA 34 while I'm putting the kit together. And as always, we'll start with the assembly of the interior of the aircraft, especially the cockpit, which brings a good level of detail (with decals for the instrument panels) in these new Airfix kits.
