WIP: Boeing B 17F Flying Fortress 1/72 Parte 1

Quando eu era criança meu pai alugou o filme Memphis Belle Fortaleza Voadora em fita VHS. Desde então essa história e a visão do Boing B 17 ficou na minha memória. Por isso digo que montar a famosa B 17F Flying Fortress é um sonho de criança!

Abaixo o trailer do filme que estou falando e que eu assisti no inicio dos anos 90. Quem ainda não viu, é uma ótima pedida. Ele retrata a última missão da tripulação do Memphis Belle, a primeira a completar um tour de 25 missões de bombardeio na teatro europeu.

When I was a kid, my father rented the movie Memphis Belle Flying Fortress on VHS. Since then this story and the vision of the Boing B 17 has been in my memory. That's why I say that build the famous B 17F Flying Fortress is a child's dream!

Below, you can see the trailer of the movie I'm talking about as I watched in the early 90's. Who has not seen it, is a good tip. It portrays Memphis Belle's last mission, the first crew to complete a tour of 25 bombing missions in the European theater.

Durante a guerra também foi feito um filme sobre o Memphis Belle e sua tripulação. Trata-se de um filme propaganda feito por Hollywood e retrata a vida de um esquadrão de bombardeiros da 8ª Força Aérea Americana na Inglaterra. 

During the war a movie was also made about the Memphis Belle and its crew. This is a Hollywood propaganda film and portrays the life of a squadron of American 8th Air Force bombers in England.

O kit que vou montar é o agora clássico da Academy, que na época que comprei, uns 6 anos atrás, era o melhor kit na escala. Agora temos novos kits, bem melhores a mais detalhados como o Revell (molde novo) e o Airfix (versão G).

The kit that I'm going to build is the now classic Academy's, which at the time I bought, about 6 years ago, was the best kit in the scale. Now we have new, much better, more detailed kits like Revell (new mold) and Airfix (version G).

O primeiro passo, como sempre, é montar o interior, incluindo cockpit e estações do navegador e bombardeador. Esse kit traz também a opção de fazer as portas do compartimento de bombas aberto e com alguns detalhes desta parte.

The first step, as always, is to assemble the interior, including cockpit and stations of the navigator and bomber. This kit also has the option of making the doors of the bomb bay opened and with some details of this part.

Infelizmente o detalhamento interno é bem espartano, e em alguns pontos até errado. Por isso resolvi melhorar algumas coisas, principalmente onde ficará mais visível, como o compartimento de bombas, nariz  e depois na posição dos artilheiros de cauda (laterais). É um trabalho cansativo, mas que creio vai melhorar um pouco o aspecto final do kit.

Unfortunately the internal detailing is pretty simple, and in some points even wrong. So I decided to improve some things, especially where it will be more visible, like the bomb bay, nose and then the position of the tail (lateral) gunners. It is a tiring job, but I think it will improve the final appearance of the kit a little.

Esse é um kit que vai dar bastante trabalho, e ainda pelo tamanho, vou ter me virar para achar um espaço para ele na estante!

This kit will be hard to build, and regarding the size I will have to make room for it in my shelf.
