WIP: Boeing B 17F Flying Fortress 1/72 Parte 8 - The return!
After a year off, I'm back with the B-17! In the meantime I ended up finishing other projects and as things were difficult as the modifications and improvements of this kit I ended up being quite disinterested in finishing this build. After all, some new B-17 kits are on the market bringing almost everything I'm putting in this one!
Mas, pesquisando por aí, descobri que o velho Academy não é assim tão ruim, então vamos voltar a carga! E continuando de onde parei, modifiquei a parte superior do nariz, tirando a claraboia única e adicionei três novas janelas no lugar.
But, searching around, I found out that the old Academy is not that bad, so let's get back to it! And continuing where I left it, I modified the upper part of the nose, removing the single skylight and added three new windows in place.
Isso deu bastante trabalho, pois tive que arrumar várias coisas na parte interna da fuselagem. Além do que as transparências do kit não ajudaram muito.
It was a lot of work, as I had to fix several things inside the fuselage. In addition, the kit's transparencies did not helped much.
Mas enfim, o resultado não tá lá essas coisas, mas o foco é terminar o kit!
But anyway, the result is not good, but the focus is to finish the build!
Redo all fuselage lines, as sanding sessions were extensive.
And go to join the wings with the fuselage.
Here we have the best known error of this kit, the excessive dihedral of the wings! That in this case can be easily solved with the addition of a 1.5 mm thick plasticard insert on the top. You may want to measure the dihedral and try to do everything by the book, but then you will find other problems in the kit! So I decided to do it with "eye measurement"!
Wings assembled with putty and sanded.
Now that final sanding job before the primer and go straight to the painting! By God's will! ;)
