WIP: Boeing B 17F Flying Fortress 1/72 Parte 9 - The return!

Olá pessoal!

Estamos voltando com a montagem do B-17F Memphis Belle da Academy! Faz alguns meses que retornei os trabalhos com esse kit. E agora estamos na fase de pintura, que para mim é a fase mais divertida da montagem, embora a gente acabe passando trabalho as vezes! Bom, depois do kit montado e lixado, aplicamos um primer cinza da Ammo by Mig. 

Returning with the build of the Academy's B-17F Memphis Belle! A few months ago I returned to work with this kit. And now we are in the painting phase, which for me is the most fun phase, although we end up having troubles sometimes! Well, after the kit was build and sanded, we applied a gray primer from Ammo by Mig.

Nesse kit resolvi não fazer o pré-shading, trabalhando somente com o pós-shading, usando então como base as tintas do set AMMO  "USAAF WWII Colors".

In this kit I decided not to do he pre-shading technique, working only with the post-shading, using as a base the paints from the AMMO set "USAAD WWII Colors".

Depois da base aplicada, o pós-shading é feito com a tinta base mais escura nas linhas dos painéis e locais onde podem ocorrer sombras. Com a mesma base, só que mais clara, adicionando o branco e/ou amarelo na parte central dos painéis.

After the base applied, the post shading is done with the darkest base paint in the lines of the panels and places where shadows can oppear. With the same base, only lighter, adding white and / or yellow in the central part of the panels.

Também aproveitamos essa fase da pintura para criar efeitos de marmorizado com a cor mais escura ou mais clara, usando uma fibra abrasiva para esse efeito. Essa técnica é bem simples, e normalmente é feita com o aerógrafo em linhas aleatórias. Mas, já existem ferramentas para fazer esse efeito mais rapidamente, como nesse vídeo acima, ou a versão caseira que utilizei. 

At this phase of the painting job to create a marble effect with the darkest or lightest color, using an abrasive fiber for this purpose. This technique is very simple, and usually done with the airbrush in random lines. But, there are already tools to make this effect faster, as in this video above, or the homemade version I used with abrasive sponge.

Com o cinza mais escuro o pós-shading aplicado nas linhas de painéis e levemente no marmorizado.

With the darker gray the shading powder applied to the panel lines and slightly to the marbled.

Com a cor mais clara, nesse caso com branco, podemos fazer efeitos diversos, mas principalmente a parte central dos painéis e a modulação da cor, com a ajuda de uma fita como máscara.

With the lighter color, in this case with white, we can make different effects, but mainly the central part of the panels and the modulation color technique, with the help of a masking tape.

Na parte superior do modelo, onde vamos aplicar o verde oliva, fizemos a mascara com fita e massa Multi Tack Pritt.

At the top of the model, where we are going to apply olive green, we made the mask with masking tape and multi tack putty.

O verde oliva de base foi logo seguido do sombreamento das linhas de painéis com a cor base mais o preto.

The base of olive green was soon followed by the shading of the panel lines with the base color plus black.

O pós-shading com a cor mais clara vem em seguida, novamente usando a técnica de modulação de cor na asa.

Post-shading with the lightest color comes next, again using the color modulation technique on the wing.

E depois em cada painel, buscando ressaltar cada um de uma maneira diferente. Também adicionei o amarelo na mistura, isso ajuda a clarear a luz e dar um tom diferente na superfície.

And then on each panel, trying to emphasize each one in a different way. I also added yellow to the mix, it helps to lighten the light and give a different tone to the surface.

Para finalizar o pós-shading, basta uma camada bem diluída da tinta base, de forma a atenuar um pouco os efeitos.

To finish the post shading, just add a diluted layer of the base paint, in order to soften the effects a little.

Depois do verde oliva pronto é hora de aplicar a camuflagem em verde médio. A camuflagem do Memphis Belle é meio controversa, tendo várias fontes com aplicações distintas. O próprio manual do kit da Academy não é confiável. Desta forma, meu direcionamento foram fotos em P&B antigas e o avião restaurado do museu da USAF. After the olive green is ready it is time to apply the camouflage in medium green. The Memphis Belle camouflage is somewhat controversial, having several sources with different applications. The Academy kit's own manual is unreliable. In this way, my direction was old B&W photos and the restored plane from the USAF museum. Para finalizar a pintura, preto nos bordos de ataque das asas e do leme. 

To finish the painting, the black painting of the attack edges of the wings and rudder.

Gosto de fazer a fuligem direto sobre a pintura com pastel seco ou pigmentos.

I like to do the grime directly over the painting with dry pastel or pigments.

Os escapamentos e os superchargers também receberam uma base metálica, o envelhecimento será feitos com óleos depois da primeira demão de verniz. Agora vamos para a reta final da montagem! Até a próxima!
