REVIEW:Aerógrafo Steula BC 61 Airbrush
Olá amigos! Hello!
We came back with another review of an airbrush from a brazilian company. This time let's take a look at the Steula BC 61 with 0.2mm needle.
Steula is a Brazilian company with over 50 years in the market of paint guns and other pneumatic products. Its line of airbrushes, however, are models imported from China, but have full technical assistance provided by the company in Brazil.
The model I own is one of the simplest in the line, with 0.2mm needle, double action, 7ml cup, metal body and plastic handle. In fact this is yet another version of the many similar models that are made in China by brands like Ustar or Fengda.
The design of the equipment is one of the most classic on the market, reminding old models of Olympos or Iwata. In fact these are Chinese copies of the old Japanese airbrushes that flooded the market at low prices on Ebay or Alixpress.
Remember that there are several factories and products with this design being produced in China, so the quality of parts and workmanship can vary greatly. And in my view this is the advantage of buying a branded product, even if it is imported, because the warranties are greater than importing directly from China.
For example, I have been using it for over 3 years and I have never had serious problems with it. The parts are well machined, most of them of good quality steel and chrome plated.
What I don't like about this airbrush is the assembly of the parts, which has a very poor fit, with some loose pieces, especially on the trigger. That's one of the reasons why from the airbrushes I have, it is that have more clogs and "over spray" problems . Also, I find the cup design and the paint chamber poor as it is very complicated to clean.
As for the paint performance, the product performs relatively well as the thickness of the stroke, being possible to vary thin and thick lines. The biggest problem compared to other equipment is the paint atomization, which I find inaccurate, with constant signs of "over spray".
So, I consider the Steula BC 61 (and that chinese copies) an ideal product to start learning how to use an airbrush because its simplicity and low price. But if you need something better, more accurate, and for more demanding jobs, I recommend thinking of something a little superior. In this case, there are better airbrushes with fair prices and superior performances.
