WIP: Airfix Spitfire PR1G 1/72
PR 1G, o Spitfire Rosa!
PR 1G, the pink Spitfire!
A while I plan to making my own decals, but I needed to test a good supplier for this project. So I received a set of decals for the Spitfire PR 1G produced by Special Signs.
To test the decais I decided to redo an old Arfix Spitfire Mk.1, in 1/72 scale, old mold. Besides, I've always wanted to know more about the pink Spitfires and maybe build one. That was my chance!
After removing all the old Humbrol paint, which was at least 15 years old, I drilled the holes for the characteristic cameras on the belly and left side of the kit.
Next step was to apply AMMO by Mig Primer.
Black pre-shading over primer with acrylic paint from AMMO by Mig.
The application of the final color was done gradually, using a homemade mixture of white, red and orange.
I made several shades of pink, from lighter to darker, from pinker to salmon. This way I was mixing the tones in the Spit panels to create the weathering already in the painting.
Verniz brilhante aplicado, decais e weathering finalizados.
Glossy varnish applied, decals and weathering finished.
Talking a little about the decal, I can say they were quite good, thin and well printed. The only thing to improve is the gray with the slightly large print dots.
