REVIEW: Aerógrafo Gatti AG2 Airbrush

Sim! Finalmente estou com um aerógrafo Gatti em mãos para testar e passar minhas impressões aqui no blog. Nesse caso um Gatti modelo AG 2, com copo pequeno de 3ml e agulha 0,2mm, ideal para pintura de pequenos detalhes.

Yes! Finally I have a Gatti airbrush in hand to test and write my impressions here on the blog. In this case, it is a Gatti model AG 2, with a small 3ml cup and 0.2mm needle, ideal for painting small details.

Todos que trabalham com aerografia ou usam o equipamento para hobby, como é o meu caso, já ouviram falar ou conhecem as qualidades deste aerógrafo. Muitos são os amigos que tem um destes em funcionamento sem apresentar problemas por mais de 15 anos! Ou seja, durabilidade e qualidade são os maiores predicados da marca, e quem sabe a tradição também seja, fato que se revela pelo desenho do equipamento e a clássica caixa de madeira aveludada.
Everyone in Brazil who works with airbrushing or uses the equipment as a hobby, as is my case, has heard of or knows the qualities of this airbrush. Many are the friends who have one of these in operation without problems for more than 15 years! In other words, durability and quality are the greatest attributes of the brand, and who knows the tradition too, a fact that is revealed by the design of the equipment and the classic velvety wooden box.

O meu Gatti AG 2 foi comprado usado, mas em estado de novo, visto que antigo dono não tinha se habituado com o equipamento. Só tive que fazer uma bela limpeza do mesmo e ele voltou a funcionar perfeitamente. Com isso, fiquei conhecendo bem as "entranhas" do Gatti.
My Gatti AG 2 was bought used, but in like new condition, since the previous owner had not gotten used to the equipment. I just had to do a nice cleaning of it and it returned to work perfectly. With that, I got to know Gatti's "guts" well.

Você pode comprar esse produto direto com o fabricante ou com o distribuidor na internet (acesse o link no fim do post), e o preço está por volta de R$550,00. Sim, não é nada barato, e inclusive acima do preço de produtos renomados de marcas importadas. Mas, para algumas pessoas, vale a pena. 

You can buy this product directly with the manufacturer or with the distributor on the internet (access the link at the end of the post), and the price is around US$ 130.00. Yes, it is not cheap, and even above the price of renowned international brands. But for some people, it's worth it.

Mas falando sobre o aerógrafo em si, podemos notar que ele é muito bem feito, bem cromado, culatra em alumínio escovado e partes internas em latão.
But talking about the airbrush itself, we can see that it is very well made, well chromed, brushed aluminum breech and brass internal parts.

A montagem interna é similar aos aerógrafos do mercado, mas chama a atenção a precisão da usinagem e o encaixe das peças. Uma peça que me chamou a atenção pela precisão requerida no ajuste é a pinça da agulha, ela fez toda a diferença na regulagem e qualidade do traço, pelo menos no meu equipamento.
The internal assembly is similar to all other airbrushes of the market, but it draws attention to the precision of the machining and the fitting of the parts. One piece that caught my attention due to the precision required in the adjustment is the needle clamp, it made all the difference in the regulation and quality of the stroke, at least in my equipment.

Umas das características do Gatti é a válvula ar com rosca menor, como as que a Badger usa nos seus produtos. Mas você pode comprar já com o adaptador para o padrão 1/8 BSP. Esse adaptador original deixa o equipamento com desenho ainda mais estranho, mas não atrapalha nada no uso.

One of the characteristics of the Gatti is the air valve with a smaller thread, like the ones Badger uses in its products. But you can buy it already with the adapter for the standard 1/8 BSP. This original adapter makes the equipment even stranger in design, but does not hinder anything in use.

Outra notável característica do produto é o copo lateral. O Gatti não tem nenhum modelo com copo superior centralizado, mais comum no mercado. Inclusive esse copo lateral é uma das maiores críticas que o Gatti recebe, pois há vários relatos de que ele cai durante o uso. Eu não tive esse problema com o copo menor, mas pode ser algo que aconteça nos maiores. Existe uma "técnica" para prender o copo e seguindo ela você não deve ter problemas.

Another notable feature of the product is the side cup. Gatti has no model with a centralized upper cup, more common on the market. Even this side cup is one of the biggest criticisms that Gatti receives, as there are several reports that it falls during use. I didn't have this problem with the smaller cup, but it could be something that happens in the larger ones. There is a "technique" for attaching it and following it you should have no problems.

A qualidade da agulha e do bico é muito boa. Isso é muito importante para que o traço fique bem fino e o controle do traço seja perfeito.

The quality of the needle and nozzle is very good. This is very important so that the stroke is very thin and the stroke control is perfect.

Minha maior crítica ao Gatti é o desenho antiquado, pois além do copo lateral e do adaptador da válvula de ar, a conexão do ar em formato de "L" abaixo do corpo do aerógrafo é bem incomoda. Pelo menos o gatilho tem uma boa ergonomia, altura e tem curso macio, mas justo.
My biggest criticism of Gatti is the old-fashioned design, because in addition to the side cup and the air valve adapter, the "L" shaped air connection below the airbrush body is quite uncomfortable. At least the trigger has good ergonomics, height and has a soft but fair stroke.

Se você já usa outros modelos de aerógrafos mais modernos, com certeza vai sentir a diferença no conforto, e quem sabe vai odiar trabalhar com esse equipamento. Mas, na minha opinião, isso é uma questão pessoal de adaptação.
If you already use other models of more modern airbrushes, you will surely feel the difference in comfort, and who knows you will hate working with this equipment. But, in my opinion, this is a personal matter of adaptation.

Sobre o desempenho na pintura, pode-se dizer que é aí que a nota do Gatti se equilibra, pois ele apresenta uma ótima performance, tanto em traços finos quanto mais grossos. A atomização do traço é boa e a precisão também. Me chamou a atenção a qualidade dos ajustes das peças, sem folgas excessivas. 

Para concluir, eu recomendo muito o Gatti AG 2, mas para artistas e "hobbistas" que já tenham algum conhecimento em aerografia e principalmente manutenção de aerógrafos. Digo isso porque achei o ajuste das peças e a regulagem mais complexos para que o desempenho seja satisfatório. 

About the performance in painting, it can be said that this is where Gatti's points is balanced, as he presents an excellent performance, both in thin and thicker strokes. The atomization of the trace is good and the accuracy is good too. The quality of the adjustments of the parts caught my attention, without excessive looseness.

To conclude, I highly recommend Gatti AG 2, but for artists and hobby persons who already have some knowledge in airbrushing and mainly airbrush maintenance. I say this because I found the adjustment of the parts more complex to get a satisfactory performance.
