WIP: Douglas A-4F Skyhawk "Blue Angels" Fujimi 1/72 - Parte 1

Minha predileção pelo Skyhawk é conhecida, afinal volta e meio o pequeno Scooter, o galo de briga do Ed Heinemann aparece por aqui! Tenho na minha coleção alguns montados e ainda alguns kits para montar. Claro que entre eles não poderia deixar de ter um "Blue Angels", da famosa equipe de demonstração aérea da Marinha Americana. 

E talvez um dos aviões mais famosos que vestiram as cores dessa equipe é o Skyhawk, eternizados no clipe da banda Van Hallen, na música "Dreams".

My predilection for the Skyhawk is known, after all, Ed Heinemann's fighting cock, appears here every now and then! I have in my collection some built and still some kits to build. Of course, one of these must be an "Blue Angels", from the famous American Navy aerial demonstration team.

And perhaps one of the most famous planes that wore the colors of this team is the Skyhawk, immortalized in the video by the band Van Hallen, in the song "Dreams".

O Blue Angels foi formado em 1946, a unidade é a segunda equipe acrobática formal mais antiga do mundo, depois da francesa Patrouille de France. A equipe, composta por seis pilotos de demonstração da Marinha e do Corpo de Fuzileiros Navais, pilota caças da frota atual da marinha.

The Blue Angels is a flight demonstration squadron of the United States Navy. Formed in 1946, the unit is the second oldest formal aerobatic team in the world, after the French Patrouille de France formed in 1931. The team, composed of six Navy and one Marine Corps demonstration pilots, fly navy fighter jets.

O esquadrão teve várias aeronaves de demonstração até o A 4F ser comissionado em 1974, para substituir o lendário Mcdonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom. O Skyhawk voou com os Blue Angels até 1986, quando foi substituido pelo MD/Boeing F/A 18 Hornet que continua a equipar o esquadrão na versão E/F.

The squadron had several demonstration aircraft until the A 4F was commissioned in 1974, to replace the legendary Mcdonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom. The Skyhawk flew with the Blue Angels until 1986, when it was replaced by the MD/Boeing F/A 18 Hornet which continues to equip the squadron in the E/F version.

O kit que vou montar é outro clássico da Fujimi, que já trás da caixa a opção para fazer o A-4F do esquadrão. Esse kit conta com uma folha de decais muito boa, da Studio Z, todos os itens que diferenciam a versão Blue Angels e ainda a possibilidade de montar a versão biplace!

The kit I'm going to build is another Fujimi classic, which already has the option to make the squadron's A-4F out of the box. This kit has a very good decal sheet, from Studio Z, all the items that differentiate the Blue Angels version and even the possibility of build the two-seater version!

O kit clássico da Fujimi para a família Skyhawk tem algumas particularidades, principalmente porque a parte comum de todos os kits são as asas e fuselagem traseira. Então a seção do nariz sempre é separada, o que normalmente dá alguma dor de cabeça. 

Fujimi's classic kit for the Skyhawk family has some particularities, mainly because the common part of all kits are the wings and the rear fuselage. So the nose section is always separated, which usually gives some headache.

Comecei pelo cockpit, aplicando um primer preto (AK178) da AK Interactive e adicionando pequenos detalhes como as  paredes laterais acolchoadas. Resolvi fazer algo diferente e colocar a figura do piloto, para usar o canopy aberto e o piloto acenando para o público.

I started with the cockpit, applying a black primer (AK178) from AK Interactive and adding small details like the padded sidewalls. I decided to do something different and put the figure of the pilot, to use the open canopy and the pilot waving to the audience.

A figura do piloto veio da caixa de sobras, o braço foi amputado de outra figura e colocado na posição correta. Gostei do resultado depois de pintado e montado no lugar.

The pilot figure came from the leftovers box, the arm was amputated from another figure and placed in the correct position. I liked the result after it was painted and fitted in place.

A parte interna do cockpit foi pintada com cinza claro (Hataka A203 Sky grey), o duto de ar do motor, trens de pouso e porões em branco puro (Dryco), tudo detalhado com Panel Liner Preto da AMMO. E claro, bastante peso no nariz para evitar que ele vire um "tail seater".

The interior of the cockpit was painted in light gray (Hataka A203 Sky grey), the engine air duct, landing gear and holds in pure white (Dryco), all detailed with Panel Liner Black by AMMO. And of course, plenty of weight on the nose to keep it from turning into a "tail seater".

Depois de tudo no lugar, questão de ajustar algumas coisas para caber o painel de instrumentos e principalmente que o canopy fechasse direitinho na fuselagem. Minha intenção era pintar ele com o cockpit fechado.

After everything was in place, it was a matter of adjusting a few things to fit the instrument panel and, above all, that the canopy closed properly in the fuselage. My intention was to paint it with the cockpit closed.

Tive que amputar a mão do piloto para o cockpit fechar, mas deu certo! Fechei o canopy com massa pritty e passei para funilaria (principalmente nas junções das asas e do nariz com a fuselagem) e finalizei com Primer preto da AK Interactive.

I had to amputate the pilot's hand for the cockpit to close, but it worked! I closed the canopy with putty and went to bodywork (mainly at the junctions of the wings and nose with the fuselage) and finished with a black Primer from AK Interactive.

Depois a parte de pintura que nesse caso é um azul escuro, usei o Azul AK2028 da AK Interactive. Esse foi o azul que eu tinha disponível que mais se aproximava da cor original dos Blue Angels. 

Then the painting part, which in this case is a dark blue, I used Blue AK2028 from AK Interactive. This was the blue I had available that came closest to the original Blue Angels color.

Na parte interna dos flaps e dos freios aerodinâmicos usei o vermelho da AMMO.  

On the inside of the flaps and aerodynamic brakes I used AMMO red.
