WIP: Reformar ou não reformar? Aichi B7A Ryusei "Grace" 1/72 Fujimi Parte 1

Qual modelista nunca reformou um kit antigo? Aquele que montamos faz muitos anos, quando não tínhamos tanto conhecimento ou que não ficou do jeito que queríamos? Ou então, ganhou, trocou ou comprou aquela sucata rara, que está muito mal montada, ou faltando peças?
Which scale modeller has never refurbished an old kit? The one we built many years ago, when we didn't have as much knowledge or didn't turn out the way we wanted? Or did you win, trade or buy that rare scrap, which is very poorly assembled, or missing parts?

Eu sou um destes modelistas que gosta de reformas e fazer detalhes em scratch nos meus kits, por isso, reformar um kit é uma constante pra mim.
I'm one of those modellers who likes renovations and scratching details on my kits, that's why renovating a kit is a constant for me.

Acho que a grande vantagem das reformas, além de poder ter na coleção kits que gostamos muito e muitas vezes são bem raros/antigos/fora de linha, é a possibilidade de fazermos experiências, novas ideias e técnicas. Afinal, como o kit já está ruim, pior não vai ficar!
I think the big advantage of the renovations, in addition to having kits in the collection that we like a lot and are often very rare/old/out of line, is the possibility of experimenting, new ideas and techniques. After all, as the kit is already bad, it won't get worse!

Alguns anos atrás recebi em uma troca, esse Grace da Fujimi, que é um avião que acho muito bonito. O kit estava bem detonado, então resolvi enfrentar o desafio de reconstruir ele. Vamos ver no que vai dar!
A few years ago I received, in exchange, this Grace from Fujimi, which is a plane that I think is very beautiful. The kit was very poorly build, so I decided to face the challenge of rebuilding the kit. Let's see what happens!

Falando sobre o objeto do projeto, o Ryusei foi um avião desenhado para operar a partir de um porta aviões e realizar missões de bombardeio e lançamento de torpedos. Foi produzida pela Aichi Kokuki KK para a Marinha Imperial Japonesa. Construída em pequena quantidade e privada de um porta-aviões para sua operação, esta aeronave teve poucas oportunidades para se distinguir em combate.
Talking about the object of the project, the Ryusei was an aircraft designed to operate from an aircraft carrier and carry out bombing and torpedo launch missions. It was produced by Aichi Kokuki KK for the Japanese Imperial Navy. Built in small quantities and deprived of an aircraft carrier for its operation, this aircraft had few opportunities to distinguish itself in combat.

Essencialmente, o Aichi B7A Ryusei foi um avião monomotor, monoplano e com dois lugares. Um dispositivo dorsal permitia à aeronave transportar um único torpedo de 800kg, ou uma bomba de peso equivalente. Adicionalmente, o avião estava equipado com dois canhões de 20 milímetros e uma metralhadora de 7.92 mm ou 13 mm para o artilheiro de ré. A aeronave era alimentada por um motor Nakajima NK9C Homare de 18 cilindros radial, com uma velocidade máxima de 567 km/h e um alcance de 3038 quilometros.
Essentially, the Aichi B7A Ryusei was a single-engine, monoplane, and two-seater aircraft. A dorsal device allowed the aircraft to carry a single 800kg torpedo, or a bomb of equivalent weight. Additionally, the plane was equipped with two 20mm cannons and a 7.92mm or 13mm machine gun for the gunner. The aircraft was powered by a Nakajima NK9C Homare 18-cylinder radial engine, with a top speed of 567 km/h and a range of 3038 kilometers.

Como foi um avião pouco produzido e hoje somente um exemplar incompleto está preservado é um tema com certa dificuldade para achar dados e boas fotos. O estado do kit que recebi, depois de passar por uma seção de lavagem com soda caustica para tirar a tinta e sabão para limpeza estava assim:
As it was a little-produced plane and today only an incomplete airframe is preserved, it is a subject with some difficulty in finding data and good photos. The status of the kit I received, after going through a washing section with caustic soda to remove the paint and soap for cleaning, was like this:

O processo de retirada da tinta sempre traz surpresas, como excesso de cola e colagens fora do alinhamento por exemplo. Esse kit tinha muita cola, além do necessário, por isso não consegui separar as peças satisfatoriamente. A cauda inclusive teve que ser cortada logo na raiz do leme para poder ter as duas metades da fuselagem abertas.

The paint removal process always brings surprises, such as excess glue and out of alignment collages, for example. This kit had too much glue, beyond what was necessary, so I couldn't separate the pieces satisfactorily. The tail even had to be cut right at the rudder root in order to have both halves of the fuselage open.

Como em uma montagem normal comecei pelo cockpit, que no kit da Fujimi é bem simples. Adicionei alguns detalhes, weathering e pintura com o clássico "azul-verde Aotake". Das fotos originais de o único sobrevivente da guerra pode-se ver que essa era a cor do interior.

As in a normal assembly, I started with the cockpit, which in the Fujimi kit is very simple. Added some details, weathering and painting with the classic "Aotake blue-green". From the original photos of the only survivor of the war it can be seen that this was the color of the interior.

Infelizmente perdi as fotos do cockpit com a fuselagem aberta, mas nas fotos acima podemos ver alguns detalhes.

Unfortunately I lost the photos of the cockpit with the fuselage open, but in the photos above we can see some details.

Enfim, depois o cockpit e motor montado podemos ver que o estado do kit é bem ruim! Vamos ter muito trabalho de funilaria por fazer!

Anyway, after the cockpit and the engine assembled, we can see that the kit is in a very bad state! We're going to have a lot of bodywork to do!

A maioria dos problemas se deve ao excesso de cola, onde algumas peças literalmente se fundiram! A solução é colar novamente, emassar e tome lixa!

Most of the problems are due to excess glue, where some pieces have literally fused together! The solution is to paste it again and sand!

Nem as asas se salvaram! Muito trabalho, principalmente no porão do trem de pouso principal. Aqui vou ter que pensar em algo para refazer esses detalhes que o kit tem no painel de fundo.

Not even the wings were saved! Lots of work, especially in the main landing gear bay. Here I'll have to think of something to redo these details that the kit has in the back panel.

Ou seja, uma reforma é isso, muitas surpresas e muito trabalho pela frente! Em breve mais atualizações desta montagem que deve se extender!

In other words, that's what a renovation is, many surprises and a lot of work ahead! Soon more updates of this assembly that should be extended!
