WIP: Reformar ou não reformar? Aichi B7A Ryusei "Grace" 1/72 Fujimi Parte 3

Seguimos com o progresso do Gracie! Um projeto bem complicado, tendo em vista que o kit chegou com vários problemas de montagem. Mas, aos poucos ele vai tomando forma. Para a pintura desse kit eu desenhei decais representando o Grupo Aéreo Naval de Yokosuka, conforme o perfil abaixo.

We continue with the progress of the Gracie! A very complicated project, considering that the kit arrived with several assembly problems. But, little by little it is taking shape. To paint this kit I designed decals representing the Yokosuka Naval Air Group, as shown in the profile below.

O Yokosuka Naval Air Group foi a primeira unidade de aviação estabelecida pela Marinha Imperial Japonesa em 1916 e sobreviveu até o fim da Guerra do Pacífico. Foi encarregado de educar e treinar pessoal da aviação, testes práticos de novas aeronaves e pesquisa. Em caso de emergência, deveria assumir o comando da defesa da Baía de Tóquio e, a partir de fevereiro de 1944, quando a situação de guerra exigia, a unidade também se envolvia em combate.

The Yokosuka Naval Air Group was the first aviation unit established by the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1916 and survived until the end of the Pacific War. It was charged with educating and training aviation personnel, practical testing of new aircraft, and tactical research. In the event of an emergency, it was supposed to take charge of the defense of Tokyo Bay, and from February 1944, when the war situation demanded it, the unit was also involved in combat.

Algumas fotos, das poucas que existem na internet, mostram esse exemplar do Grace em testes na Base Aérea Naval de Yokosuka, onde os aviões da Aviação Naval Imperial eram testados antes de entrar em operação. 

Some photos, of the few that exist on the internet, show this example of the Grace undergoing tests at the Yokosuka Naval Air Base, where the Imperial Naval Aviation planes were tested before entering into operation.

No final da guerra, quanto os aliados ocuparam o Japão a base aérea de Yokosuka estava tomada de aeronaves de todos os tipos, muitas delas protótipos, bem como novos armamentos para a Marinha imperial. Por incrivel que parece a base, mesmo sendo muito importante para o esforço de guerra, quase não foi atacada pelos aliados. Parece que eles queriam mesmo poupar as inovações japonesas para espólios da guerra.

At the end of the war, when the Allies occupied Japan, Yokosuka Air Base was filled with aircraft of all types, many of them prototypes, as well as new weapons for the Imperial Navy. Incredibly, the base, despite being very important to the war effort, was barely attacked by the Allies. It seems that they really wanted to save Japanese innovations for spoils of war.

Voltando para a montagem, depois da pintura base nesse kit resolvi pegar pesado com o weathering, usando chipping, óleos, washes, paneling, filtros e tudo mais que tinha direito. Nas próprias fotos acima podemos ver que o estado dos aviões japoneses no final da guerra eram bem surrados, quer pelo intenso uso ou realmente a má qualidade das tintas empregadas.

Returning to the build, after the base painting is done I decided to go heavy on the weathering, using chipping, oils, washes, paneling, filters and everything else I could think of. In the photos above we can see that the condition of the Japanese planes at the end of the war was quite worn, either due to intense use or the really poor quality of the paints used.

Na parte inferior não foi diferente, usei quase todas as técnicas que usei na parte superior, com um pouco menos de intensidade, afinal a parte inferior dos aviões tendem a sofrer menos com as intempéries.

It was no different on the lower part, I used almost all the techniques I used on the upper part, with a little less intensity, after all the lower part of the planes tends to suffer less from the weather.

Os decais são desenhados por mim e impressos em uma gráfica, ficaram muito bons levando em conta que são "home made".

The decals are designed by me and printed in a printing shop, they turned out very well considering they are "home made".

Ultimos detalhes na montagem, colando antenas e cabos para finalizar um kit que ficou muito tempo na bancada esperando para ser finalizado! No próximo post as fotos finais!!

Last details in the assembly, gluing antennas and cables to finish a kit that was on the bench for a long time waiting to be finished! In the next post the final photos!!
